WINDER – C. Julian Bowman, 84, died Thursday, October 1, 2009, following a brief illness.
A native of Barrow County, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winder, and was a veteran of the United States Marines during World War II. He retired from American Freight in 1985 and then pursued dealing in real estate. He loved his family, friends, gardening, the outdoors, and his outreach program at church.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Marie Bowman; children, Brenda Shepherd, Decatur, Dianne Turner and husband Ronald, Buford, Mike Bowman, Tucker; grandchildren, Susan McKinnon, Deanna Teel and Sherron Shaw; great-grandchildren, Michael McKinnon, Julia Bernier, and Gordy Teel.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 4, at 2 p.m., in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Winder with John Talley officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy., SE, Winder, GA 30680, 770-867-4553.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 340, Winder, GA 30680.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
