NICHOLSON – Virginia Pittman, 73, formerly of Flowery Branch, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
Born on June 6, 1936, in Fulton County, she was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist Church, and a former member of Old Suwanee Baptist Church in Buford. Mrs. Pittman was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Diane Pittman.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Chandler Pittman, Nicholson; daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy and Gene Pichard, Cumming, and Marie and Greg Bailey, Auburn; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Marla Sue Pittman, Nicholson; grandchildren, Samantha Pestana, Nathan Pittman, Sabrina Bowen, Thomas Pittman, Jonathan Bowen, Tabitha Bailey, Ethan Bailey, and Lauren Bailey; great-grandchildren, Taylor Pestana and Hayden Barrentine; sister, Jean Marshall, Loganville; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Sherry Archer, Conyers; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dot Parkerson, Duluth, Edna Adams, Monroe, Judy Cook and Joyce and Billy Pealock, all of Lawrenceville; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Nell Pittman, Monroe, and Rex Pittman, Auburn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Stowers of New Hope Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday, October 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, is in charge of arrangements.
