ATHENS - Russell William James, 37, died February 9, 2012.
A native of Athens, he was the son of Elmer and Doris Christian James. Russ was a 1994 graduate of Athens Christian School. He was a loving husband and devoted father. Russ coached youth football at Athens Christian School and little league baseball. He worked with his father at Elmer James Paint and Body for 17 years and was presently employed with Specialty Paint and Body. He was a good Christian man and member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his loving wife, Tiffany Bridges James; children, Dylan James and Bryce James, Athens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Veronica Bridges; sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Jimmy Branton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lara and Charles Sullivan; and niece and nephew, Ashley and Brett Branton.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 13, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe Wood and Dennis Nix officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Born in Lagrange, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Allen and Nelia Lawson Collins. Mrs. McCannon was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Annabelle Grace Jordan; brothers, Bob Collins and Raymond Collins; and sisters, Ruby Holcomb and Shirley Duckworth.
Mrs. McCannon was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and coworker. She was a longtime member of Colbert Baptist Church. Meme's faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave her strength and grace during her nine-month battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family and coworkers.

CONYERS - Geraldine Hosch Bondurant, 94, formerly of Winder, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012.
A native of Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Zenia Emmett. She was preceded in death by husbands Paul Hosch and Frank Bondurant, sister, Willanelle Greene, and brother, Raymond Emmett.
Mrs. Bondurant was a graduate of Clermont High School. She worked for the clerk of court and for Martin Finance Company in Gainesville. She retired from Southern Waistbands in Winder, with 25 years of service as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime member of Winder First United Methodist Church.

He was born in Barrow County on July 20, 1920, the son of the late Ches and Mary Walls. He was a member of the Rockwell Masonic Lodge for 49 years and was of the Baptist denomination. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the World War II Infantry.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Vera Dean Walls, Braselton; sons and daughters-in-laws, Robert and Sue Ellen Walls, Buford, Roy and Floriberta Walls, Gainesville; son, James Walls, Oakwood; grandkids, Billy Walls, Janell Roberts, Jason Walls, Christy Wilkerson, Brian Walls, Kimberly Walls and Cody Walls; 26 great-grandkids; and five great-great-grandkids.

He was a retired Aerospace Engineer with Delta Airlines for 28 years, was an avid golfer, and a member of the Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister, Brenda Finley, Homer; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bobby Lacey, Toccoa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Cathy Kesler, Kernsville, N.C. and Randy and Dorothy Kesler, Homer; special caregiver, Elsie Scercy, Homer; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim Warren, 84, of Pocataligo Community in Madison County, passed away after brief illness on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.
He was born in Tignall, Wilkes County, Georgia, the son of the late Francis Joseph "Frank" Warren Sr. and Celestia Angieline "Angie" Standard Warren. He attended school in Tignall until high school where he rode to Elberton with a neighbor and graduated in 1944 from Elbert County High. He played saxophone in the Army band stationed at Seattle, Washington, and was honorably discharged when World War II ended. He studied architecture at both Georgia Tech and Auburn University. Jim lived in Atlanta where he worked for a time at Rich's department store in downtown drawing their floor plans for displays and other renderings (this was written up in the magazine section of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution). He and the family moved to Athens, where he designed and built several houses during the early 1960s that incorporated innovative energy saving designs and construction techniques many years before the energy crisis made such techniques popular.
Jim had lived in the Pocataligo community since 1967 where he owned and operated for many years Warren Tractor Company, the oldest Deutz (later Deutz-Allis) dealership in the United States. After retiring from selling farm equipment, he became active in the Broad River Watershed Association as its first newsletter editor. He studied extensively the uses and hazards to our water supply to change current practices of water management.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Joseph "Joe" Warren, Jr. in 1925; and sister, Mary Will Warren (Walker) Dunson in 2007. He is survived by his former wife, Mary Bondurant Warren of Athens, and their five children, Eve Bondurant Warren (Rick) Mayes, Pocataligo, Mark Standard Warren. Margaret Lurline Duck Tanner, 92, died February 8, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Born in Braselton, Jackson County, on March 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Lester Gordon Duck and Emma Mae Cruce Duck. She was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church in Braselton where for many years she faithfully served as a youth Sunday school teacher and president of the Women's Missionary Union.
Mrs. Tanner graduated from Braselton High School and was a devoted wife and Mother. She was skilled in gardening, raising chickens and cattle and in all domestic arts. She enjoyed her family, friends and especially her neighbors.
Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Paul Tanner; twin brothers, Brannon and Branson Duck; brother, Howard Duck; sister, Ruby Dean Duck Waters; and son-in-law, Dr. Jack Wall.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Tom McGee; grandchildren, Greg and Susie Wall, Sturgis, Miss., Eric and Amber Wall, Hoschton, and Emma and Scott Chambers, Braselton; great-grandchildren, Clint and Colin Wall, Catherine and Caroline Chambers, and Preston, Jack and William Wall; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Branson Duck, and Mrs. Howard Duck; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday February 10, in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, with Mr. Johnny Parker and the Rev. Don Leaptrott officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Braselton. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home, Thursday, February 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
