HOSCHTON – James Edward Hayes, Sr. age 71, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011, at his residence following a period of declining health.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hayes was a son of the late Hubert L. and Lillie Mae Self Hayes. Mr. Hayes had worked for Wicks Mobile Homes in Winder, Ga. for over 20 years and also at Mitsubishi in Braselton for over nine years before retiring. Mr. Hayes was a longtime member at the Center United Methodist Church in Hoschton.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Hayes, Hoschton; son, James Edward (Karen) Hayes Jr., McDonough; daughter, Nancy (Larry) Christmas, Douglasville; son, Eddie (Debbie) Hayes, Athens; son, Keith Hayes, Hoschton; grandchildren, Will Harm; Jonothan Harm; Tyler Hayes; Tiffany Hayes; William Harm; Jonathan Harm; Kari Hayes; Jessica Hayes; Robert Hayes; Jacob Hayes; Alicia Hayes; Caleb Hayes; Savannah Hayes; great-grandchildren Will Harm; Sean Harm; Ben Harm; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday December 26 at 2 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Blane Spence will officiate the service. Grandsons will have the honor of serving as pallbearers and granddaughters, Alicia Hayes and Tiffany Hayes, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

NICHOLSON - Harold Erastus Hawks, age 90, of Nicholson, died Saturday, December 24, at his residence.
Mr. Hawks was born in Jackson County to the late Claud and Leona McConnell Hawks. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Mr. Hawks was retired from the USDA Poultry Research Lab.

Seagraves; and daughter, Judy Baxter.

Roger C. Vandiver (12-18-11)
ATHENS - Roger C. Vandiver, 80, beloved husband of Mrs. Helen Terrell Vandiver, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Vandiver served his country proudly from 1950-1954 with the United States Air Force. He worked with Dupont from 1954 until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Vandiver was a member of the Augusta Board of Realtors and the Million Dollar Club. He was also a member of Gideons International, and was the Vice-Chairman of the Columbia County Board of Tax Assessors from 1976-1982. Mr. Vandiver was a member of West Acres Baptist Church and the Love Sunday School Class. On July 27, 2008, he was honored as a Deacon Emeritus by the Deacon Fellowship of West Acres Baptist Church for serving our Lord Jesus Christ and his church for many years as a deacon and as deacon chairman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael E. Vandiver (Ruth); daughters, Janice V. Braswell (Jim), and Sharon V. Raborn (Kenny); step-daughter, Terry Bennett (Edwin); brother, William Vandiver (Sandra); sister, Eutelle Yonce (Harry); sister-in-law, Barbara Vandiver; grandchildren, Ken and Brittany Raborn; step-grandchildren, Lauren and Kevin Bennett; and nieces and nephews.
