COMMERCE - Nicholas Daniel Wilbanks, 18, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 14, 1993 in Jackson County, Ga., the son of Rodney Lester Wilbanks (Brandy) of Commerce and Leslie Jay Thomason of Nicholson. Nicholas was a member of Baptist Tabernacle and was a rancher. Nicholas was the best calf roper, bull rider, and motocross rider around Jackson County. His loving spirit will always be remembered. He was one of a kind and will always be in our hearts.
Survivors in addition to his parents include brothers, Kevin and Kaleb Wilbanks, both of Commerce; sister, Courtney O’Bannon, Douglasville; grandparents, Bobby and Sandra Wilbanks and Janet Howard, all of Commerce; aunts, Christi Shepherd, Macon, and Angela Wilbanks, Mexico; great-uncle, Spurgeon Youngblood, Macon; great-aunts, Patricia (Grier) Dawson and Nancy Lee Wilbanks, both of Athens; niece, Ollieanna O’Bannon, Douglasville; and cousins, Brandon and Austin Shepherd, both of Macon, and Chloe Wilbanks, Commerce.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 2, at Baptist Tabernacle with the Revs. Rodney Wilbanks and Tommy Watson officiating. MAYSVILLE - Beverly “Bev” Thompson, 79, died Monday, August 29, 2011 at Northridge Medical Center.

She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Geoffery Perry and Effie Cochran Tate. Mrs. Howard was retired from Duval County, Florida Educational system, where she worked in the credit union department for a number of years. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Howard; and a sister, Annette Skelton.
Survivors include a brother George Perry Tate (Barbara Jurelle), Jefferson.
Graveside services will be Thursday August 25, at 11 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. J.B. Skelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday, August 24, at Evans Funeral Home.
