BETHLEHEM - Lamar Ridgeway, 88, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010.
Born in Winder, he was the son of the late William Asbury and Abbie Jane Kilgore Ridgeway and was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Cronic Ridgeway.
Mr. Ridgeway was a retired Postmaster from the Bethlehem Post Office after 25 years of service, where he originated the Bethlehem Christmas stamp. He joined the Bethlehem First United Methodist Church when he was seven years old and had been a member for the longest period of time than any other member. Mr. Ridgeway was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Judy Ridgeway, Bethlehem; grandchildren, Brooklynn Davis, Allison Hawkins, Katie Reynolds and Amanda Clark; great-grandchildren, Ridge and Elijah Davis, Kaylan and Madelyn Hawkins, Jeremy and Isaac Reynolds and Savannah, Alyssa and Bryson Clark; sister-in-laws, Julia Ridgeway and Eunice Guffin; and brother-in-law, Lewis Cronic.

Born in Winder, she was the daughter of the late Ernest V. and Annie Mae Cole Miller. She was a homemaker and was very involved in Omer Christian Church. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. Mrs. Cramer was preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.

STATHAM – Bishop G.H. Hammond, 89, died Friday, December 24, 2010.
Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Obie and Rosa Kent Hammond. He served as a pastor for 60 years, 44 years was in Winder and at other churches in Athens and Barnesville, and was founder of The Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Forsyth. He was veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II involved in two invasions. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by brothers, Allen, James, Cyril and Burt Hammond; and sister, Lorelle Hammond.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Nellie T. Hammond, Statham; son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Janice Hammond, Statham; daughter and son-in-law, Pastor Patsy Nell Collins and husband Dallas, Round O, S.C.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brothers, the Rev. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Towns County Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge #131, Knights Temple Order of the Eastern Star, and the Yarab Shrine Temple. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and enjoyed coaching his sons in Dixie Youth Baseball. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Hayes; 10 brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.
