NICHOLSON – Eugene “Ted” Wampler, 50, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at his residence.
Born on October 1, 1959, in Monroe County, Ind., he was the son of Eugene W. Wampler and Virginia (Bohall) Pittman. On May 20, 1978, he married Marilyn East and they shared 32 wonderful years together. He was formerly employed at Arvin Technical Center in Columbus, Ind., and at Bob Poynter Chevrolet in Seymour, Ind. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandson in July, 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn (East) Wampler; son, Travis Wampler (Brande), Greenwood; father, Eugene W. Wilda Maddox Wilson, 91, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in Charlotte, N.C.
She was born December 2, 1918, in Rebecca, the youngest of eight children of the late Guy Noil Maddox and Florence Carter Maddox, originally of Jackson County. A retired Muscogee County teacher, she was a 1940 Fine Arts graduate of Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon GA. She held a B.S. from Auburn University, an M.A. from Georgia State University, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. At St. Paul UMC, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Miller-Wilson Sunday School Class and the Glad Sallys Circle. A lifetime member of the United Methodist Women, she was recognized in 2000 as St. Paul UMW’s “Quiet Disciple” for her service to the church and community.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. John E. Wilson, who served Georgia Methodist churches in Midville, Soperton, Americus, Tifton and Columbus.

He was a decorated veteran from Vietnam. Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Jennie Mae Nash. He was of the Baptist denomination.

Mrs. Carter was a former member of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxillary and a retired seamstress and cook. A member of Eastside Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school for 17 years and youth for three years. She did volunteer work as a Pink Lady at the Fitzgerald Dorminy Medical Center and at the Wilcox Public Library. She was also a member of the Martha McCloud UDC of Wilcox County.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, at 2 p.m., from Lamar Christian Church with Bill Moody and David Terrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, May 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
