She was born in Fulton County, the daughter of Jeanette Burdette Amos of Maysville and the late Mark Johnson. She was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church and was the director of the Banks County Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Galloway was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Galloway.

He has been a faithful and long-term member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta for about 35 years with recent involvement in some of their mission projects. He has also given financial support to two of his favorite local ministries: the Atlanta Pregnancy Resource Center, Tucker and Eagle Ranch in Chestnut Mountain. Professionally, Dean served as a leading Pharmacy Manager with several national retail companies working in the Northlake and Toco Hills areas. Dean was also pursuing his passion as a Real Estate Investor and Residential Builder.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 26, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta. Dean’s family, friends, and associates are all welcome to attend.

Dr. Robert Atkeson “Doc” McCreery, 92, died Monday, February 22, 2010, following a short illness.
Born on May 30, 1917, in Columbia, Mo., he was the son of the late James Wesley and Gladys Atkeson McCreery. In the course of his studies and work, he and his family moved to Virginia, Washington and Costa Rica. A resident of Jackson County since 1957, he was Professor of Agronomy at the University of Georgia for more than 20 years. He was active in Jefferson Rotary and volunteered in many county activities, including literacy programs and rebuilding the grist mill at Hurricane Shoals Park. Mr. McCreery was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Isabel Adams McCreery; a son, Robert Michael McCreery; and daughters-in-law, Candace Reynolds McCreery, Felice Armstrong McCreery and Sharon Niles McCreery.

Born on June 25, 1924, in Spartanburg, S.C., he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary Etolia Craig Crocker. He was a graduate of Mars Hill Jr. College and Clemson University, class of 1950. He served the community around as Commissioner of Columbia Zoological Park/Riverbank, member of Toastmasters International, serves as Deacon for North Trenholm Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the State Agriculture and Mechanical Society of South Carolina. He worked for Purina, IDS and the Richland County Building/Planning/Zoning Department before retiring as a Zoning Consultant. However, the focus of his life and largest source of interest and enjoyment was always his family and their activities.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Billie C. Crocker, Jefferson; children, Lynne C. Pharris, Norcross, Bruce W. Crocker, Jefferson, David L. Crocker, Lexington, S.C.; brother, Forrest J. He was a member of the Thyatira Presbyterian Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and was past master of the Unity Masonic Lodge. Mr. Jennings was preceded in death by a brother, Albert “Skeet” Jennings.

She was a graduate of Martin Institute and attended Piedmont College in Demorest until going to work at Bell Aircraft in Marietta during World War II. She was an accomplished china painter, antique enthusiast, doll collector and avid reader. She was a proofreader for the University of Georgia Printing Department before working in Protective Services and retiring from the Clarke County Department of Family and Children Services.

She was the former owner and operator of Duchess Beauty Salon in Decatur, and later moved to Fairburn where she continued her beautician work. Mrs. Peugh was preceded in death by her husband, retired Coast Guard Veteran Jesse Durel Peugh; three brothers; and six sisters.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, at 1 p.m., February 23, in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Decatur with the Rev. Ken Stephens officiating.
