HOSCHTON - Marion Skinner "Peggy" Hayes, Hoschton, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church where she served in Sunday School, VBS and Missions for many years. Mrs. Hayes, affectionately known among her family as "Gran" and her friends as "Miss Peggy," was born April 29, 1929, to the late Robert Ginn and Annie Adams Skinner of Barrow County. She was a wonderful wife, mother, Gran and friend. Her love of her family and her cooking and baking for her family and friends brought her much joy. Many Christmases she would make over 50 huge pieces of her famous peanut brittle and each was given to a special person in her life. In her years of good health, she had the reputation as one of the best cooks in Jackson County.
In the 70s, Peggy was a top salesperson at Belk's of Lakeshore Mall where her customers in the children's department felt a special love for her and she for them. Mrs. Hayes will always be remembered for the loving, giving and caring person who she was.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Mark Hayes and her great-granddaughter Elsie Conde. Survivors include a sister, Jackie Foster, Winder; her children and six in-laws, Kenton and Debbie Hayes, Tallulah Falls, Claire and Elton Maddox, Gainesville, Lemuel and Cheryl Hayes, Wendell and Patty Hayes, Jim Hayes, all of Hoschton, Rexine Hayes Howard, Calhoun; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special friend, Bessie Lynn; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 28, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.

ROYSTON – Thomas Mitchell Phillips, 80, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born in Franklin County on February 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Dillard and Mozelle James Phillips. He was a cabinet maker and was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Ann Webb Phillips; three brothers; and two sisters.

Born in Camden, Ariz., she was the daughter of Willa Stewart Rothman of Nicholson and the late Walter Rothman. She was retired from the United States Government. Mrs. Lujan was preceded in death by her husband, Gorgonio Lujan; and a son, Paul Lujan.
Survivors in addition to her mother include a daughter, Elaine Beltran, New Mexico; a son, Miguel Lujan, New Mexico; sisters, Elaine Cathy and Rosie King, both of Nicholson, and Linda Nelson, Texas; and four grandchildren.

She was a member of the Line Baptist Church, where she served as church clerk for many years, a member of the Banks County AARP, and was a retired school teacher having taught faithfully and proudly for the Banks County School System for over 30 years. Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, Cranford Dalton; a son, Jerry Dalton; daughter, Carol Dalton; sisters, June Chesser, Betty Wester, Gladys Westmoreland and Loutrelle Kesler; and brothers, George Giles, Wilton, and Baxter Emmett.

Isaiah was a happy baby who was full of life, and brought joy to all who knew him. Although his life was short-lived, Isaiah touched the lives of many people. He was just learning to roll over and beginning to learn to laugh out loud. He loved to smile and laugh at his sister, who had a ball making him laugh. DANIELSVILLE – Dorothy “Dot” Bond Wood, 71, died Friday, January 22, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. Dewitt Talmadge Bond and Elise Quattlebaum Bond of Danielsville. She was a beloved classmate of the first graduating class of Madison County High School in 1956, where she met and married her husband of 51 years John H. “Jay” Wood Jr. She participated in sports, 4-H and many other clubs during and after high school years. Her years of work included the Bank of Danielsville, Merrill Lynch and the Continuing Education Center at the University of Georgia. She spent most of her life being a loving mother, homemaker and caregiver to her family and extended family. She loved to travel and talked often about her favorite trips to Alaska and Maine. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and specialty items with Jay. She was a lifetime member of the Danielsville United Methodist Church.
