ALBANY - Elizabeth “Libbo” New Loosier, 84, died Sunday, September 27, 2009.
Born in Decatur, on July 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William Lafayette New and Minnie Lee Grant. She attended Shorter Baptist College in Rome, where she was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Tau Sorority. She married Oscar on November 15, 1947, at First Baptist Church in Thomaston. She was a member of the Charity League, the P.E.O., the Garden Club, the Book Club and served on the Board of the Albany Little Theatre, where she both performed in and directed many plays. She served on the Board of Directors of Alltel Telephone Company and was honored as mother of the year in 1974 by First Baptist Church, where she had been a member for 61 years. Elizabeth started the drama department in First Baptist Church, where God used her to minister to many people. Mrs. Loosier was preceded in death by her husband, O.F. Loosier Jr.; and grandchildren, Oscar and Thomas Loosier.
Survivors include children, Mike Loosier, Lee Eady and her husband, Chuck Eady, Birmingham, Ala., Eddie Loosier and his wife, Sue Jenkins Loosier, Gainesville, Grant Loosier and his wife, Pat Harrell Loosier, Macon, and Lynn Loosier, New York City, N.Y.; grandchildren, Amon Eady, Bill Loosier, Grant Loosier Jr., Michael Eady, Loy L. Allex, Joshua Loosier, Charles Loosier, David Eady, Jonathan Loosier, Victoria Loosier, Susanna Loosier, Michael Loosier and Layla Loosier; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ansley Allex, Noah Eady, Tristen and Bailey Brook Loosier. We must not leave out her special friend and part of our family, Ms. Frances Collins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, at 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Albany, 145 Oakland Pkwy., Leesburg, GA. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Dr. Butch Knight, the Revs. Perry F. Webb and Dan Robinson will be officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 30, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
