LULA – Ernest Eugene Pinnell, 71, died Thursday, September 24, 2009, at his residence following a sudden illness.
Born in DeKalb County on October 7, 1937, he was the son of the late Marion Eugene Sr. and Ethel Wilson Pinnell. He was a retired supervisor with Fieldale Farms with nine years of service. He was of the Baptist denomination and enjoyed helping others. Mr. Pinnell was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Pinnell.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Pinnell, Lula; children, Wanda and Brad Howard, Oakwood, Timothy and Thelma Pinnell Windy and Franky Roper, Phillip McGee, all of Gainesville, Tommy and Tammie Pinnell, Lula, Mellissa and Donny Pricher and Danny Pinnell, all of Winder, Debbie Nichols, Atlanta, Renee and Mike Jernigan and Danny Temples, all of Alabama, Crystal and Kenneth Boyer, Homer, and Gary and Rhonda Cox, Auburn; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Freida Pinnell, Hoschton; sisters, Alice Greer, Hoschton, and Betty Pinnell, Auburn; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Pinnell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, September 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. and Friday, September 25, from 7 to 9 p.m.

HOMER – Marion F. Rucker, 62, died Monday, September 21, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ola Parker Rucker. He was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church and was a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include a sister, Jane Crabbe, Athens; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 23, at 7 p.m., at the Homer United Methodist Church with the Revs. James McLendon and Charles Crabbe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday, September 23, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Born on October 17, 1935, in Hall County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Edna Buffington Wallace. She retired after 30 years as a supervisor with Wayne Poultry Company and was a member of the Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by a son, Rodger “Buggy” Hicks; and a brother, Sonny Buffington.

ALTO – Zinebell Ausburn Wade, 86, died Monday, September 14, 2009, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born on May 8, 1923, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Daisy Mae Pressley Ausburn. She was the last member of her immediate family, was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, and provided a loving home to many foster children. She loved to bake cakes.
Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Pritchett; sisters, Monteen Poole, Dora Lawrence, and Marie Mealor; and brothers, Hubert Ausburn and Plumer Ausburn.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Odell William Wade, Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Doug Ayers, Annette and Tommy Free, and Jeanette and Johnny Wade, all of Alto; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Darlene Wade, Alto; grandchildren, Bradley Ayers, Donna Clark, Tonya Chitwood, Jeff Pritchett, Christopher Pritchett, Pepper Adams, Heath Free, Shannon Free, Jennifer Brock, and Roxann Bennett; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Born on November 19, 1923, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Spear and Lula Lipscomb Gilmore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Maysville High School, attended North Georgia College, and was a former community correspondent for The Jackson Herald. Mrs. Minish was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ford Minish.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, at 2 p.m., in the Holly Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew McCoy officiating. The body will lie in state Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Church. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Shubert, Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Shina Shubert, Alto; grandchildren, Lauren and John Shubert; sisters and brother-in-law, Louise Sheridan, Maysville, and Annie Hastings, Royston, Mary and Clarence Orgeron, Crossville, Tenn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, William Shubert, Warner Robins, and J.T. and Shirley Shubert, Gainesville.
Mr. Shubert’s wishes were for his body to be donated to Emory University for scientific study.
