GAINESVILLE – Emory Kimsey Loggins, 69, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Born on January 23, 1940, in Hull, he was the son of the late John K. and Ora Haynes Loggins. He worked at SCM for several years and he and his brother, Drewery, owned and operated a truck washing business. He later retired as a barber at Thompson Court Barber Shop. Mr. Loggins was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Holland Loggins; brother, Wiley Cohen Loggins; and sister, Joyce Loggins Worley. He loved farming and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Elrod Loggins, Gainesville; daughter, Kimberly L. Onyskiw, Flowery Branch; son, John K. She was born August 3, 1910, in Clarkton, N.C., the daughter of the late Edgar James and Julia Eva Cromartie Cox. In her earlier years, she served as superintendent of welfare for Bladen County, N.C., and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson. Mrs. Stovall was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Thomas Stovall; sister, Catherine Cox Chew; and brothers, Nathan and James Cox.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julia S. and Robert Howard, Woodruff, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, James Thomas Stovall III and Mildred Stovall, Homerville; grandchildren: James Thomas Stovall IV, Sarah Isabella Howard Lloyd, Benjamin Clark Stovall, and Julia Anna Howard Ward; nine great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Connie Smith.

ATHENS – Charles W. Hawkins, 76, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

After the war he became a well known auto salesman in the Athens area. He was a member and past Post Commander of the VFW Post 2872, a Mason, and a member and deacon of Attica Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Susan Gibson Hawkins; sons, Charles W. “Chuck” Hawkins III and William Aubrey Hawkins; sister, Faye Marcus; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, at 11 a.m., at Attica Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin Purcell and Shane Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
