LULA – Junior Dyer, 57, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Grady Memorial Hospital, following injuries received in a logging accident.
Born in Jackson County on June 13, 1952, he was the son of the late Hubert and Thelma Armour Dyer. He was self-employed in the logging industry and was of the Holiness faith. Mr. Dyer was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Lamar Dyer. He enjoyed riding his Harley and was a loving husband, father and papa, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Dyer, Lula; daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Kelvin Sloan, Rabbittown; son, Brett Dyer, Lula; grandsons, Brandon Kody Sloan and Thomas Boone Sloan; special friends, Harold and Cindy Dockery and Kevin Magness, all of Lula; brother-in-law, John Barrett, Lula; brother and sister-in-law, Dillard and Doris Dyer, Lula; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Walter Hall, Royston; sister-in-law, Amanda Dyer, Maysville; and a host of other close friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 17, at 2 p.m., at the Lula Assembly of Praise with the Revs. Lanier Tatum, Woodie Hicks and Tim Beasley officiating. Burial will be in the Living Mission United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Winifred Hancock
HULL – Winifred B. Hancock, 87, died Saturday, June 13, 2009.
Born in Oconee County on August 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Fred P. and Nela W. Bell, and was a member of the Macdonia Baptist Church. She graduated from Oconee County High School in 1939 and retired from the Northeast Georgia Area Agency on Aging. After retirement, she continued her service to senior citizens, representing Madison, Elbert, Jackson and Oglethorpe counties on the National Council of Silver-Haired Legislators, meeting former president Jimmy Carter and several state senators. She served on the Senior Citizens Advisory Council until last year.
She was very active in the local community, volunteering with Action, Inc. to serve the needy in Madison County. She loved arts and crafts, winning many awards with her quilting and needlework, representing the Madison County Senior Center in many contests. She was a founding member of the Red Hat Society of Madison County, leading a very active life. Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hancock; and a brother, Fredrick Bell.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Rocker and the late William Rocker, Danielsville, Brenda and James Escoe, Watkinsville, Beverly and James Smith, Comer, Betty and Talmadge Horne, Winterville; sister, Gertrude Robinson, West Hamlin, W. STATHAM – Dot Roberts, 87, died Saturday, June 13, 2009.
Born in Oconee County, Bogart, she was a daughter of the late S.C. and Estee Dial Edwards, and was a member of Bogart Christian Church. She started working at H & H Manufacturing before going to work at the University of Georgia, where she worked in the bookstore until she retired. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, James C. “Jim” Roberts.
Survivors include a son, Larry Roberts, Snellville; grandchildren, Jamie Roberts, Denise Holden and Delores Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Ethan Roberts, Owen Roberts, Tara Maxwell, Caleb Maxwell and Braxton Holden; and a brother-in-law, Grant Satterfield.
