Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Ben C. and Ruby McGinnis Hill. He was retired from Westinghouse and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Clark and David Hill; and sisters, Wilda Cochran and Barbara Paul.

WINDER - Lester L. ‘Mutt’ McDaniel, 92, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Garfield and Martha V. McDaniel. A member of Carter Hill Christian Church, he was a World War II Army Veteran and fought in the battle of The Bulge. He was owner of L. L. McDaniel Construction Company. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Royster McDaniel.

WINDER – Steven “Zook” Woodard, 51, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, following a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Winder on March 11, 1958, he was the son of the late Donald B. Woodard and Carolyn and Sam Rooks of Winder. A 1976 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Swaziland, South Africa, and was employed as a journeyman carpenter with Beck Construction for 10 years. Mr. Woodard was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. A.G. Langley, Lytle, Texas, and Mr. & Mrs. J. Clide Anderson, Athens.
