WINDER - R.B. Casper, 88, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Emory and Rena Harris Casper. A member of Chapel Christian Church, he served as an Elder and was in the Army during World War II. He was a cattle farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Whitley Casper; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Beth Casper, Winder; and step-daughter and son-on-law, Joan and Monte Whisenant, Winder; grandchildren, Dawn and Steve Parks, Kristi and David Evans, and Neil Whisenant; great-grandchildren, Brittany Parks, Josh Parks, Courtney Evans and Tori Evans.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 30, 2009, from Smith Memory Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

STATHAM - Shirley Thomas, 65, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009.
Born in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Hester and Sennie Fleeman Coker. A member of Cornerstone Christian Church, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Thomas loved to watch birds and loved flowers loved ones stated.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Thomas, Statham; and sister, Diane O’Kelley, Danielsville.

WINDER – Roberta Brown, 89, died Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Born in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Langmade and Fannie Greenway Powell. She attended the New Pentecost United Methodist Church, and retired from Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, where she was a L.P. Nurse. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Brown.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Brenda Brown, Lithonia, Ed and Jean Brown, Lilburn, Wayne and Debbie Brown, Leesburg, and Grady and Kim Brown, Panama City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 1 p.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Billy Pittman and Mike McLemore officiating. BOGART – Robert “Robin” Bryant Martin Jr., 53, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Born in Clarke County on April 13, 1956, he was the son of Jacqueline Martin of Watkinsville, and Robert Bryant Martin Sr., and stepson of Helen Martin, Athens. He was a 1975 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School and a graduate of Gainesville College. He was employed for many years as Human Resources Manager with Athens Packaging/Keebler and was a supervisor at Chico’s.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife of 20 years, Missy; children, Ashley, Brittany and Courtney; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Mike Epps, Watkinsville; stepbrothers, Dr. David Wortham and Scott Wortham, both of Anderson, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Barrow County native and former Atlanta area resident, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Jessie Watson Willard and had lived in Walton County since 1992. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandy Martin.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Hammond Self, Winder; a son, Barry Self, Winder; daughters, Rhonda Covington, Bethlehem, Wanda White and Regina Hall, both of Winder, and Tracy Proud, Carnesville; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Self, Braselton, and William Ernest Self, Auburn; a sister, Eva Mae Clark, Winder; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 24, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service. The body will be cremated.
