WINDER - R.B. Casper, 88, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Emory and Rena Harris Casper. A member of Chapel Christian Church, he served as an Elder and was in the Army during World War II. He was a cattle farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Whitley Casper; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Beth Casper, Winder; and step-daughter and son-on-law, Joan and Monte Whisenant, Winder; grandchildren, Dawn and Steve Parks, Kristi and David Evans, and Neil Whisenant; great-grandchildren, Brittany Parks, Josh Parks, Courtney Evans and Tori Evans.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 30, 2009, from Smith Memory Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

STATHAM - Shirley Thomas, 65, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009.
Born in Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Hester and Sennie Fleeman Coker. A member of Cornerstone Christian Church, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Thomas loved to watch birds and loved flowers loved ones stated.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Thomas, Statham; and sister, Diane O’Kelley, Danielsville.

CLARKESVILLE – Ford M. “Doc” Doss, 76, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Born in Jackson County on March 7, 1933, he was the son of the late George and India Elizabeth Samples Doss. He was the former owner of Doss Plumbing and Electric and was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Doss was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Watkins; second wife, Dorris Doss; brother, Thomas Doss; sister, Mary Lou Mathis; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Doss.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Shirley Doss, Todd and Janine Doss, all of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Jack Lewis, Maysville; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Frances Doss, Maysville; sister-in-law, Maggie Doss, Maysville; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Kristy F. and Charles Lockert, Lawrenceville, Freda and David Church Sr., Mt. DANIELSVILLE – Clarence Hall, 80, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
A native of Franklin County, he was the son of the late Thomas Welborn and Sally Ware Hall. He was retired from Barber Coleman Controls after 20 years of service, and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was a mason for 58 years, a member of the Pipe Fitters Union from 1953 until 1991, and was a former deacon at Danielsville Baptist Church. He was a member of Colbert Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Hall, Robert Hall and George Hall; and a great-grandchild, Rhett Thomas Myers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Hall; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Pam Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Tommy Myers, Madison County; sister, Linda Hall, Hartwell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Emily Hall, Lavonia, Graham Hall, Gastonia, N.C.; grandchildren, Jason and Wendy Myers, Madison County, Ashley and Jason Mercer, Oconee County, Matthew Hall, Los Angeles, Calif., and Melissa Hall, Athens; great-grandchildren, Avery Mercer and Austin Mercer, both of Watkinsville, and Kara Grace Myers, Colbert; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Langmade and Fannie Greenway Powell. She attended the New Pentecost United Methodist Church, and retired from Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, where she was a L.P. Nurse. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Brown.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Brenda Brown, Lithonia, Ed and Jean Brown, Lilburn, Wayne and Debbie Brown, Leesburg, and Grady and Kim Brown, Panama City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

MAYSVILLE – Doris Whitlock Hulsey, 70, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Hill Haven Nursing Home in Commerce following a brief illness.
Born on June 27, 1938, in Hall County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Louise Dale Whitlock. She attended Living Word Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Doodle” Hulsey; and a brother, J.D. Whitlock.

DANIELSVILLE – Willie Robert “Bob” Shelnut, 76, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and Willie Lois Murray Shelnut. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years, then he worked in Washington, DC for many years. After retirement, he moved to a farm in Madison County.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Grace Shelnut, Bogart, and Willie Robert Shelnut II, Virginia; brothers, Dan Shelnut, Atlanta, Hoyt Shelnut, Athens, and Roger Shelnut, Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was a 1975 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School and a graduate of Gainesville College. He was employed for many years as Human Resources Manager with Athens Packaging/Keebler and was a supervisor at Chico’s.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife of 20 years, Missy; children, Ashley, Brittany and Courtney; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Mike Epps, Watkinsville; stepbrothers, Dr. David Wortham and Scott Wortham, both of Anderson, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
