Blanche Elder, 94, of Auburn, died Sunday, December 28, 2008. A native of Ware County, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Julia Moxley Calhoun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Elder. Mrs. Elder was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carl and was a retiree of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Survivors include son, Thomas F. (Angela) Elder; daughter, Charlotte (Sid) Bonnemer, all of Auburn; Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Ray H. Newman, Sr. and Mr. Bill Banks officiating. Lamar Davis, 77, of Statham, died Sunday, December 21, 2008.
He was the son of the late Allen and Eula Jackson Davis and was preceded in death by sons, Jeff Davis and Danny Davis; brothers, Billy Davis and Larry Davis; and a sister, Grace Stephens. Mr. Davis was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Wando Louis “Russ” Colombo, 91, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008.
Born on June 6, 1917, in New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Batista and Lisa Colombo. He was a former Superintendent of the Jefferson City School System and was the former Principal of the Lithonia Community Schools. He was a veteran, having served during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Clarice Dekle Colombo, Jefferson; and a daughter, Claire Colombo, Athens.

Marie Townsend Conner, 87, of Statham, died Friday, December 12, 2008.
A native of Athens, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Madeline Roche Townsend. She received her BS and Master’s degrees from the University of Georgia. She worked at the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, and also as a dietician at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dublin before returning to the University of Georgia in the same capacity. She retired from the University of Georgia in 1974 and did many years of volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens. She was also a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, John Sidney Conner.
Survivors include a daughter, Madelyn Conner Kreiger, Statham; and grandchildren, Maddi and Conner Kreiger; brothers and sisters-in-law, George A. and Freda Townsend and William R. and Sue Townsend; brother, Eugene A. Townsend; and several nieces and nephews.
