Mary Lou Fields Dillard, 95, of the Sanford Community, died Monday, September 29, 2008.
Born in Union County, she was the daughter of the late James Andrew and Nellie Gillespie Fields. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dillard was preceded in death by her husband, William Otis Dillard; and twins, Harry and Larry Dillard.
Survivors include children, Kenneth Fielding (Geneva Marshall) Dillard, Gloria Andrea (Glenn) Epps, and Sarah Paulette (Eddie) Cooper; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 2, at 11 a.m., at the Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Billy Pittman and Bill Coady officiating. Phillip Daniel Strickland, 38, of Nicholson, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008.
A native of Fulton County, he was the son of Joe and Linda Strickland of Danielsville. He was employed with Silgan Closures for many years and was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed hunting. At age 19, he received a heart transplant that allowed 19 additional years with his family and friends.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by a sister, Melanie Strickland; brother, Kevin Strickland; and grandparents, Albert and Mary A. Wood and C.D. and Jene Strickland.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his fiancé, Karla Benoit, Nicholson; step-children, Jordan and Faith Whiddon, both of Nicholson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela and James Boree, Comer, Mary Ann and Greg Smith, Warner Robins, Donna Strickland, Hull; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Strickland, Crawford, Mark and Eve Strickland, Arnoldsville, Jason and Tiffany Strickland, Winterville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and operated the Gulf Service Station on Lee St. in Jefferson many years ago. Mr. Standridge was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Smith; and brother, Harold Standridge.

Mrs. Irvin was preceded in death by her husband, Will Elisha “June” Irvin Jr.; a son, James Roland Irvin; and great-granddaughter, Danielle Leshae Crowe.

Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board and sang in the male choir.
