NICHOLSON - Steven Randall Lee, 52, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 20, 2009.
Steve fought a brave, lifelong battle against cystic fibrosis. Steve dreamed of having a double lung transplant with hopes of continuing his life on earth after his own lungs were destroyed by this disease. He died at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C. following complications from the transplant he received on June 6, 2009. The last four months of his life were spent in the hospital intensive care unit, but were filled with cherished moments and love. Sharon, his wife of 32 years, was at his side. Matthew, the son he adored, was nearby. He joined his sister Stacey, who lost her battle to CF at age three.
In addition to his wife and son, Steve is survived by his parents, Robert and Betty Lee of Watkinsville; his enormous and loving Merrill Lynch family; many relatives and friends; and his much loved and faithful canine companions Ginger, Nina, Daisy and Cleo.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Neese-Diamond Hill Rd., Hull. The church is located in Neese off Hwy. 106. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Donations can be made to Steve's favorite charity, Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
