JEFFERSON – Joe Edward “Buck” Davis, 68, died Monday, September 21, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Willie Clarence and Vinnie Lee Ayers Davis. He was a retired manager with Southland Timber Company. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ayers; and sister, Frances Childers.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Parks Davis, Jefferson; daughter, Gina Streetman, Commerce; sons, Larry Davis, Commerce, Mike “Tater” Davis, Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Mary Nell Parks, Homer; grandchildren, Taylor Streetman, Josh Streetman, Cody Streetman, Hillary and Addison Davis, Dylan Davis, and Chase Davis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, at 1 p.m., at the Dry Pond United Methodist Church with the Revs. Winfred Bingham, Carlton Allen, and Grady Wigley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Hemphill, David Parks, Andy Bingham, Neil Bingham, Walter Parks, and Tim Aiken. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Wilson, James Wilson, and Dr. S.J. Shirley.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

I know Hillary she was very sad when she came to school. I know what it is like to lose someone close. I am very sorry for the loss of the family. Hillary if you read this I am sorry you lost your grandfater. I know what it is like to lose someone close like that. I will keep my prayers and thoughts to this family
