JEFFERSON – Jimmy Pruitt, 68, died Monday, September 14, 2009.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Clarence T. and Bertie Lee Shaw Pruitt. He was co-owner of Jefferson Heating and Air, a member of the American Legion, member of Academy Baptist Church, and was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by brothers, George Henry Pruitt and Johnny Lee Pruitt.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra H. Pruitt, Jefferson; stepdaughter, Krista Ginn Adkins (Al), Jefferson; sister, Mary Shumake Meadow, Danielsville; special niece, Elaine Ledford, Jefferson; grandchildren, Ella and Trey Adkins; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. James McClendon officiating. Burial will be in Evans Memory Gardens in Jefferson. Serving as pallbearers will be Mac Snelling, Roger Jackson, Stan Truelove, Walter Storey, Tommy Pruitt, and Andy Evans. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Luther Pruitt, Walter Tonge, Jim Benson, Richard Bradley, Dwight Porter, and James Black. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Flowers are to be omitted and memorials may be made to Academy Baptist Church, c/o Imogene Roncadori, 3777 Commerce Rd., Jefferson, GA 30549.
