JEFFERSON - Charles Donald Segars, 69, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on March 12, 1940, the son of the late Joseph and Grace Bell Segars in Franklin County. He was raised in New Holland, where he lived most of his life before moving to Jefferson. He was employed with Russell Daniels Corporation, where he retired, and was a member of the East Hall Baptist Church.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife, Bonnie Segars; daughters, Donna Wood and Dawn McCook, both of Commerce; stepchildren, Tammy and Tommy Meeks, Steve and Lola Jarrard, Anita and Billy Gooch, Scott and Leigh Jarrard, all of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Glenda Segars, Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jo and Richard Wilson, Aline and Donald Meeks, Libby and Doyle McQueen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral home with the Revs. Chris Segars, Bobby Patman, and Billy White officiating. Burial will in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Death is a very hard thing to deal with. Although we see it at times as better for the person because they are no longer suffering, it hurts so bad. The Bible promises that one day death will be swallowed up forever. (Isaiah 25:8) Wouldn't that be a wonderful day when God takes away one of, if not the, most hurtful things in life.
