‘Sandy’ Segars

CARTERSVILLE – Sandra L. “Sandy” Segars, 59, died Friday, September 4, 2009.

Born in Athens on August 6, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Brunell S. and Winifred Gordon Lay. She was a native of Winder and had been a resident of Cartersville since 1985. She was a member of the Sam Jones United Methodist Church in Cartersville, where she was chairperson of the Joy Link. She was also the former treasurer of the Sam Jones United Methodist Church Women. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, and was an active community volunteer and school volunteer. Mrs. Segars was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Hamilton; and father-in-law, Edwin Segars.
Survivors include her husband, Jeff Segars; daughter, Ashley Segars; son and fiancé, Jake Segars and Jessica Anderson; sister, Linn Carlyle, Winder; mother-in-law, Lucille Segars, Winder; sisters-in-law, Janet Segars and Lisa and Keith Maloof, all of Winder; brother-in-law, Paul Hamilton, Winder; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, at 10 a.m., from the Sam Jones United Methodist Church in Cartersville, with Bill Burch, the Revs. DeDe Lawson and Martha Fielden officiating. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder with the Rev. Tony Coggins and DeDe Lawson officiating. Pallbearers will be Jake Segars, Tyler Maloof, Tanner Maloof, J.T. Carlyle, Jimmy Little and Tony Coggins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Link at Sam Jones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, September 7, from 5 to 9 p.m.
