‘Fatback’ McDaniel

BETHLEHEM – Bobby “Fatback” McDaniel, 73, died Monday, August 31, 2009.

Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Garfield and Martha Vanderford McDaniel. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Rebecca McDaniel.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen J. Barnes, Bethlehem; sons, Mike McDaniel, Flowery Branch, Mitch McDaniel, Claxton; daughters, Melinda Poss, Gainesville, Jennifer Hamrick, Chamblee; stepchildren, Darlene Price, Bethlehem, Chris McAfee, Athens, and Wanda Willard, Chamblee; sisters, Demp Royster and Pearl McDaniel, both of Winder; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Friday, September 4, at 2 p.m., in Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Al Garvin officiating.

Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
