BRASELTON – Albert David “A.D.” Hayes, 81, of Braselton, died Monday, August 31, 2009.
A former resident of Snellville for 25 years, then moving to Jackson County, he was the son of the late C.A. and Annie Hayes. He was founder of Hayes Auto Service and also president of Hayes Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep of Lawrenceville and Gainesville. He was a founding member of Independent Garage Owners, was a Gwinnett County Rotarian, was on the board of directors for the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce, and was president of the Georgia Florida Charolais Cattleman Association. He loved boating, ranching, and raised Charolais cattle.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ann Hayes; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael David and Sherry Hayes, Albert Terry and Sandra Hayes, all of Hoschton, Tim Ellis and Carolyn Hayes, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Donald Eugene and Julia Hayes, Buford; grandchildren, Chad, Jeremy, Tracey, Matt, and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Molly, Ellie, Adam, Cooper, Lauren, Trevor, Bryan, A.J., Cassidy, and Brooke.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, at 11 a.m., at Blackshear Place Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Rustad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 1, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
