Rex Griffeth

WINDER – Rex Griffeth, 77, died Friday, August 28, 2009.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Emory Edward and Emma Nancy Peevy Griffeth. He was a member of the Bethlehem First Methodist Church and was owner of Winder Finance Company until he retired in 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Turnbull Griffeth; Winder; daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia and Jimmy Hunt, Kathy Dockery, both of Winder, and Charlene and Mike Ray, Athens; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Griffeth, Bethlehem; sister, Mary Anthony, Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 30, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Parker Benson and Donnie Pennington officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
