JEFFERSON – Clarence Grover Simmons, 100, died Sunday, August 30, 2009.
Born on August 19, 1909, he was the son of the late William and Laura Jane Smith Simmons. He was a retired farmer, truck driver, and was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Faye Garrett Simmons; a daughter, Vivian Wilkes; and son, Douglas Simmons.
Survivors include daughters, Olivia Baratta and Barbara Pardue, both of Winder; son, Clarence Simmons Jr., Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, at 2 p.m., at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Hewatt officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Honored pallbearers will be Derek Pardue, Deron Pardue, Shawn Simmons, Kyle Simmons, Ryan Simmons and Mike Simmons. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

I am so sorry about your loss. Death is the most unnatural thing anyone has to see. The Bible promises that one day all those in their memorial tombs will come out (John 5:28,29). What a day that will be when you get to see your dead loved one again. I do send my condolances.
