HODGES, S.C. - James E. Callaway, 75, died Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Jim and Ellie Helton Callaway. He was self employed and was of the Holiness denomination.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Gooch Callaway; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Paul McLaughlin, Greenwood, S.C.; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Callaway, Mike and Beverly Dorn, all of Greenwood, S.C.; a sister, Mammie Sue Ogle, Oglethorpe County; brother and sister-in-law, George and Betty Callaway, Oglethorpe County; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 26, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Harley Funeral Home with the Revs. Kendall Callaway, Bobby Callaway and Dennis Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Tucker, Larry Tucker, Jeff Tucker, Wayne Callaway, Loyde Callaway and Norman Callaway. Honorary escort will be Tim Brooks, Joe Brooks and Jeremy Lund. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 26, from 2 to 3 p.m. The family is at home.
