GAFFNEY, S.C. – Gilbert Norris Phillips, 73, formerly of Braselton, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009.
Born in DeKalb County, he was the son of the late Hoyt Luther and Launa Stancil Phillips. He was a retired shop supervisor with Pet Dairy in Winder; and a member of the New Pentecost Methodist Church in Winder. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Wayne Phillips.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Anderson Phillips, Gaffney, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Phillips and Bob Miller, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Shirley Phillips, Hoschton; brothers, Laird Phillips, Braselton, and Dillard Phillips, Helen; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 21, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. John Talley officiating. Burial was in the Walnut Fork Baptist Church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Phillips, Georgia Miller, Ethan Miller, Mitch Phillips, Lewis Craft and Lyndel Reynolds.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
