COMMERCE – R. Victor Richey Jr., 93, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at BJC Nursing Home.
Born on March 27, 1916, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Roy and Gertrude Richey. He worked for many years for the Commerce Poultry Company and was a cattle farmer. He was a member, former deacon and former teacher of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Cabin Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Richey was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Shirley; and brother, Gene Richey.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Richey, Commerce; sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Xylda Richey, Columbia, Tenn., Tom and Jean Richey, Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Perdue, Commerce, Diane and Marlie Turner, Powder Springs, Helen and David Reynolds, Commerce, Pam and Bob Smith, Lakewood, Ill.; sister, Bobbie Bradford, Tyrone; brothers, Ed Richey, Commerce, Buster Richey, Carnesville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, at 3:30 p.m., in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Herbert officiating. Burial will be in Cabin Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, August 22, from 1:30 to 3:30.
