James Stewart Brooks Sr., 55, of Commerce, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at BJC Hospital in Commerce.
He was born in Franklin County, the son of James K. Brooks and stepmother, Mary Brooks, of Commerce.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Barbara Ann Stowe Brooks, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, James Stewart Jr. and Carolyn Brooks, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Adrian and Brett Johns, Athens; brothers, Stanley Brooks and Curtis Brooks, both of Royston; and granddaughter, Katie Brooks, Commerce.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. The body will be cremated. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the residence, 1036 Smallwood Dr. in Commerce.
