JEFFERSON – Eunice Venable “Big Mama” Howington, 78, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Ida Brown Venable. She attended Living World Worship Center and was the retired owner of Howington’s B.B.Q. Mrs. Howington was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Howington.
Survivors include a son, Hershel Howington, Jefferson; sister, Pauline Wilkes, Athens; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 18, at 10 a.m., from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Mobley officiating. Burial will be in the Cabin Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Howington, Mark Howington, Michael Tate, Chris Parr, Ronnie Massey, Jack Howington Jr., Ryan Romines and Lamar Howington. The family will receive friends Monday, August 17, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
