Mary Brooks

ILA – Mary C. Brooks, 84, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009.

A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Ed and Jewell Whitworth Chandler. She was plant manager for Georgia Sportswear of Ila for many years and was a member of Moon’s Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a brother, W.L. Chandler.

Survivors include her husband, Guy E. Brooks; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and John Cass, Danielsville; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Jan Brooks, Danielsville; sisters, Lorene Moseman, Jean Edwards and Maudene McCannon; brothers, E. Jack Chandler, Jerry Chandler and Bobby Chandler; five grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Michael Spence officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Chandler, Rodney Chandler, Wesley Chandler, Josh Chandler, Patrick Chandler and David Echols. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
