LAKE CITY, FLA. – Hattie Lois McGalliard, 101, formerly of Jefferson, died Thursday, August 6, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Nathaniel and Lunie May Sheffield Jacks. She was a former member of Galilee Christian Church. She later left Jackson County and went to China Grove, N.C. in 1928, where she worked at Cannon Mills and was a homemaker; and had recently moved to Florida. Mrs. McGalliard was preceded in death by her husband, William Marcus McGalliard.
Survivors include daughters, Claris Ingersoll, Athens, and Lucille Rood, Lake City, Fla.; grandchildren, John Ingersoll and Suzanne Ingersoll, both of Athens, Becky Pedersen, Lake City, Fla., and Cathy Kennedy, Nashville, Tenn.; sisters, Ruth Elrod, Jefferson, and Jenny Bruce, Stone Mountain; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, August 9, at 2 p.m., at Galilee Christian Church Cemetery with Minister Tom Plank officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
