WINDER – Zara S. Cook, 88, died Monday, August 3, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ada Rice Strickland. She was a member of The Tabernacle in Lawrenceville and had worked as a secretary for Richard Russell. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Cook.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Clyde Hardigree, Snellville, Gail and Terry Sehr, Tucker, and Beth and Doc Maranville, Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, at 11 a.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with Fred Musser, the Revs. Donnie Pennington and Huey Blake officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 5, from 6 to 9 p.m.
