BETHLEHEM - David Martin Still, 89, died Friday, July 31, 2009.
Born in Walton County, he was the son of the late Jess and Sarah Elizabeth Thornton Still. A member of Bethel Baptist Church, he was a deacon for over 50 years. He was in the United States Army serving in World War II, where he achieved a bronze medal and four battle stars fighting in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater. Mr. Still retired from Barrow County School System as a bus driver and was a chicken farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel McDaniel Still, Bethlehem; daughter, Linda Wilkins, Bethlehem; grandson, Mike Wilkins, Social Circle; great-grandchildren, Emily and Luke Wilkins; brothers Oren Still, Monroe, William Still, Bethlehem, and Bennie Still, Dacula.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 2, from Smith Memory Chapel, with the Revs. Johnny Wright and Steve Ray officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
