Cammie Maynard Hinton, 96, died Friday, July 31, 2009.
A native of Winder, she was the daughter of the late Marion Russell Maynard and Martha Bush Summerour Maynard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Holman Hinton, Sr.
Mrs. Hinton was a graduate of the University of Georgia, worked with Georgia Power as a home-demonstration agent, taught school in Dacula and Winder, taught in the Winder First United Methodist Church Preschool, and retired as a caseworker for the Barrow County Department of Family and Children Services. She was a lifelong, faithful member of Winder First United Methodist church, where she cooked dozens of biscuits for the annual ham and egg supper and became a member of the "1,000-mile club" in their senior citizens walking program. She was devoted to her family, spending countless hours cooking for and playing board games with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Dr. Coy H. Hinton and Linda Hinton, College Park; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Carroll Eddleman, Hoschton; grandchildren, Matthew and Miriam Hinton, Andrew and Ashley Hinton, Dr. Rachel Eddleman, and Mary Kay Eddleman; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 2, from the Winder First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Terry Tippens, Larry Rary, and Coy Hinton officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Winder First United Methodist Church Building Fund or Handbell Fund, Winder.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
