GAINESVILLE – Emory Kimsey Loggins, 69, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Born on January 23, 1940, in Hull, he was the son of the late John K. and Ora Haynes Loggins. He worked at SCM for several years and he and his brother, Drewery, owned and operated a truck washing business. He later retired as a barber at Thompson Court Barber Shop. Mr. Loggins was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Holland Loggins; brother, Wiley Cohen Loggins; and sister, Joyce Loggins Worley. He loved farming and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Elrod Loggins, Gainesville; daughter, Kimberly L. Onyskiw, Flowery Branch; son, John K. Loggins, Oakwood; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Cindy S. and Jeff Tolbert, Nicholson; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jody and Donna Sailors, Maryville, Tenn.; stepson, Michael Sailors, Hull; grandchildren, LaSha Ackerman (Peter) Ackerman, New York, Matthew Jones, Flowery Branch, Nicole Loggins, Gainesville, A.J. Loggins, Oakwood, Taylor Onyskiw, Flowery Branch, Kayla Tolbert and Morgan Tolbert, both of Nicholson, and Justin Sailors, Maryville, Tenn.; great-grandchild, Landry Jeffrey Brown, Nicholson; brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Drewery Loggins and Jeanette Loggins, Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Lavern L. and James E. Tumlin, North Carolina; brothers, William “Billy” Thompson, Gainesville, and Noah Thompson, Cornelia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Drewery Loggins, Jesse Browning, Donald Robertson and Tony Butler officiating.
