TOCCOA – J.D. Saylors, 64, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at his residence.
Born on June 14, 1945, in Hart County, he was the son of Dorothy Fitzgerald Saylors of Toccoa and the late J.B. Saylors. He had lived in Commerce for 15 years before making Toccoa his home. He worked for Stovall Building Supplies for a number of years, and loved to garden, read and cook. Mr. Saylors was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Fincannon Saylors; a stepson, Danny Varner; and brother, Guy Saylors.
Survivors in addition to his mother include a daughter, Lori Saylors, Toccoa; son, JD Saylors Jr., Toccoa; stepchildren, Dana Herron and Larry Fincannon, both of Commerce; eight grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lorene and Jimmy Deal, DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Carolyn Bearden, Cleveland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Peggy Saylors, Aaron and Joyce Saylors, and Travis and Grace Saylors, all of Toccoa; special caregivers, Adam and Lisa Bearden, Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, at 2 p.m., from the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating. Burial will be in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Marvin Brown officiating at the graveside service. The family will be at the home on Pond St. and will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, July 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
