BRASELTON – Drewey Bynam Vandiver, 84, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Franklin County, Ala., he was the son of the late William Lonnie and LuDie (Garrett) Vandiver. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Vandiver was preceded in death by sons, Mark Daniel Vandiver and Hoyt Lee Vandiver; and a daughter, Lisa Lynn Vandiver. He loved his family and grandchildren, fishing, gardening and woodworking, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Alma (Baker) Vandiver, Braselton; daughters and son-in-law, Rosie Mae and Walter Clark, Winder, Imojean Mull, Jonette and Walter Storey, all of Jefferson; son and daughter-in-law, Harold D. and Carol Vandiver, Braselton; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 24, at 11 a.m., at Memorial Park South Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 23, from 6 to 9 p.m.
