ATHENS – Charlene Broome Strickland, 88, died Sunday, July 12, 2009.
Born on July 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Susan Broome. She was an economics teacher for 31 years before retiring, having taught many of those years at Madison County High School. She was of the Baptist denomination and a member of Danielsville Baptist Church. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Strickland.
Survivors include sisters, Jimmie Lou Benton, Jacksonville, Fla., Willie Ruth Freeman, Lincolnton; a niece, Linda Gennerich; two nephews; two great-nephews; David and Bowen Freeman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m., at Danielsville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Danielsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Fogg, Barry Smith, David Freeman, Ben Black, Bowen Freeman and Gary Gennerich. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

I KNOW she blessed most everyone that was allowed to be in her life. I hope that many "children" had the opportunity to spend some of their lives with her.
