Isabel McCreery

JEFFERSON – Maria Isabel McCreery, 90, died Saturday, July 4, 2009.

Born in Indiana on December 31, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Earle Victor Adams and Nellie Belle Springer Adams. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jefferson Presbyterian Church where she was an elder and a choir member. She was a member and treasurer of the Women of the Church, a volunteer reading teacher at the I.W. Davis Detention Center and a volunteer at the Sardis/JPC Food Bank.

Survivors include her husband, Robert “Doc” McCreery, Jefferson; children, Betty and Bill Turner, Bill and Sharon McCreery, Eleanor and Clyde Brannen and Joe McCreery, all of Jefferson, Susan and Charles LaCount, Watkinsville, and Paul McCreery, Austell; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at the Jefferson Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Jarrett officiating. Visitation will be held after the service in the Thurmond Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jackson County Senior Center, 151 General Jackson Drive, Jefferson, Ga. 30549.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

I WISH TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY OF THIS WONDERFUL LADY,AND I DO MEAN LADY.SHE WAS VERY SPECIAL TO ME.I DID MR,AND MRS McCREERY'S HAIR FOR A FEW YEARS OFF AND ON ,AS WELL AS THEIR WONDERFUL GRANDSON,JACKSON.THEIR SON ,JOE WORKED ON SEVERAL OF MY CARS IN THE PAST,AND I CONSIDERED HIM A GOOD FRIEND AS WELL.WHENEVER I SAW THEM,I WOULD ALWAYS THINK,THEY WERE THE TRUE DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE.THEY HAD BEEN BRINGING LITTLE JACKSON TO ME FOR HAIRCUTS MOST OF HIS YOUNG LIFE.HE IS A VERY SMART YOUNG MAN,AND THEY WERE SO VERY NICE,AND I ALWAYS LOOKED FOWARD TO SEEING THEM COME.I CAN'T HELP BUT REMEMBER SOMETHING THAT JACKSON SAID TO ME AND MY CO-WORKER IN THE SALON ONE DAY,THAT REALLY MADE BOTH OF US REALIZE HOW LUCKY WE REALLY WERE.JACKSON HAD LOST HIS OWN MOTHER AT A VERY YOUNG AGE DUE TO AN EXTENDED ILLNESS,AND MY CO-WORKER AND I HAD JUST LOST OUR MOTHERS A FEW WEEKS APART,AND WE WERE SO SAD. ONE DAY WHEN JACKSON CAME IN FOR A HAIR CUT.WE WERE TELLING HIS GRAND PARENTS ABOUT THE LOSS OF OUR MOTHERS,AND WE WERE STILL SO SAD,WE COULD HARDLY WORK WITHOUT CRYING.LITTLE JACKSON LOOKED AT ME WITH THOSE BEAUTIFUL EYES OF HIS AND SAID,"MISS ROBIN I CAN TELL YOU SOMETHING SADDER THAN THAT,AND HE WENT ON TO SAY,"I HAVE LOST MY MOTHER TOO." I LOOKED AT MY CO-WORKER AND HE LOOKED AT ME,AND WE BOTH KNEW AT THAT VERY MOMENT THAT GOD BROUGHT JACKSON TO SEE US THAT DAY TO SHOW US JUST HOW BLESSED WE HAD BEEN.WE HAD OUR MOTHERS MANY, MANY MORE YEARS THAN THAT SPECIAL LITTLE BOY SITTING IN MY CHAIR.MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL.I KNOW THAT THIS IS A DIFFICULT TIME FOR YOU,BUT PLEASE KNOW THAT YOUR LOVING,WIFE/MOTHER TOUCHED MANY HEARTS IN HER LIFE.SHE WILL BE TRULY MISSED BY MANY.MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND KEEP YOU IN HIS TENDER LOVING CARE.I LOVE YOU,JACKSON,YOU ARE FOREVER IN MY HEART.LOVE ROBIN

My great-grandmother was a loving and caring person who loved her friends, family, and her Lord and Savior. She will be truly missed. Until we meet again, my Grandma Bear.
