JEFFERSON – Maria Isabel McCreery, 90, died Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Born in Indiana on December 31, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Earle Victor Adams and Nellie Belle Springer Adams. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jefferson Presbyterian Church where she was an elder and a choir member. She was a member and treasurer of the Women of the Church, a volunteer reading teacher at the I.W. Davis Detention Center and a volunteer at the Sardis/JPC Food Bank.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Doc” McCreery, Jefferson; children, Betty and Bill Turner, Bill and Sharon McCreery, Eleanor and Clyde Brannen and Joe McCreery, all of Jefferson, Susan and Charles LaCount, Watkinsville, and Paul McCreery, Austell; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at the Jefferson Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Jarrett officiating. Visitation will be held after the service in the Thurmond Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jackson County Senior Center, 151 General Jackson Drive, Jefferson, Ga. 30549.
