HULL – Andrew J. “A.J.” Watson, 73, died Friday, June 26, 2009, peacefully from the arms of his loving family to the loving arms of his Lord.
Born on April 14, 1936, in Nicholson, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wells. He took pride in his work with a lifelong career in commercial trucking and was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church in Hull. He loved spending time with his family and many grandchildren, and will always be remembered by his love for God, his compelling stories, and his obsession of homemade vanilla ice cream on a hot summer day, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Retha A. Watson; children, Gail Moore, James Wells, Deborah Willoughby, Joe Wells, Mike Watson, David Wells, Tim Watson, Danny Wells and Tracie Flores; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday, June 29, at Victory Baptist Church in Hull with the Revs. Elmer Butler and Rob Hamby officiating. Burial was at the Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
