WINDER – Harold Dean “Hal” Ward, 68, died Sunday, June 28, 2009.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Gene and Marie Adkins Ward and was a former resident of Texas but had resided in Winder for the past six years. He was a member of the Winder First Baptist Church and was a retired middle school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ward, Winder; daughter, Dawnette Cress, Santa Maria, Calif.; sons, Derrick Varnell, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Darrin Ward, Hoschton; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 6:30 p.m., in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with John Talley officiating. The family suggests that memorials be made to The Barrow County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1144, Auburn, GA 30011, or The American Diabetes Association, Three Corporate Square, Ste. 120, Atlanta, GA 30329.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
