Jim Damons died Saturday, June 27, 2009, following a brief illness.

He was the son of Harrison and Odessa Damons and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County.

Survivors include his wife of many years, Ella Mae Gresham Damons; daughters, Callie (Kenny) Williams, Eloise Damons, Willean (Andrew) Hampton, and Nancy Damons; sons, Thomas (Malissa) Damons and Tim Damons; sister, Iola Johnson; brother, Freddie Damons; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, at 2 p.m., at Maxey Hill Baptist Church with ministers Mitchell Appleby and Charlie Rakestraw officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Forestglen Mortuary, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
