DEMOREST – Ulas L. Kitchens, 80, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Born in Leesburg, Cherokee County, Ala., on August 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Celliann Lindsay Kitchens. He was a member of the Cornelia Church of Christ and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with 47 years of dedicated service. Mr. Kitchens was preceded in death by a son, Marty Joe Kitchens; and grandson, Ricky Kitchens.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Kitchens, Demorest; a daughter, Stacey Rene Taylor, Louisville, Ky.; step daughter, Gail Nix, Cleveland; sons, Johnny Ulas Kitchens, Cameron, N.C., and Charles Andy Kitchens, Alto; step-son, Terry Alexander, Murrayville; sisters, Lois Walsch, Atlanta, Edith Skinner, Newington, and Joann Norton, Atlanta; brother, Howard Kitchens, Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, at 2 p.m., at Whitfield Funeral Home with Martin David and Ron Cope officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. until funeral hour on Friday, June 26, at the funeral home.
