ROYSTON – Thelma Jones Varner, 83, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Dayton and Fannie Power Jones. She was a homemaker, a successful Avon representative for 30 years, and a member of the Bold Spring United Methodist Church. Mrs. Varner was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight R. Varner; daughter, Judy V. Hambrick; grandson, Paul Varner; brothers, Maurice, Lovic, and Wilton Jones; and a sister, Jewell Varner.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Roger Graham, Carnesville; sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Linda Varner, St. Louis, Mo., the Rev. Gerald Varner, Augusta; sisters, Ruth Jones Cain, Savannah, and Jane Varner, Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 19, at the Bold Spring United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Wright officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
