Robert Wetherford

GAINESVILLE – Robert Lee Wetherford, 81, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a short illness.

He was the son of the late Paul and Bell Wetherford, and was a member of Straightway Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic. Mr. Weatherford was preceded in death by a son, Horace Wetherford; and a granddaughter, Hanna Wetherford.

Survivors include his wife, Ethelene Hooper Wetherford; daughters and son-in-law, Janice Garner, Jeneva Edge, Jenene and Walter Smith, all of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Julie Wetherford, Gainesville; brothers, Junior Wetherford, Henry Wetherford, both of Gainesville, Adolphous Wetherford and Gordon Wetherford, both of Jackson County, and Johnny Wetherford, Madison County; sisters, Grace Robinson and Vera Mae Wood; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, at 11 a.m., in Straightway Baptist Church with the Revs. Allen Passmore and Michael McIntire officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
