AUBURN – Jack Carter, 73, died Friday, June 12, 2009.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Cordelia Carter. He was the owner and operator of Jack Carter Construction before retiring, and was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Carter war preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Carter; son, Jack Ray Carter Jr.; brother, George Carter; stepmother, Margie Carter; and stepson, Bobby McKnight.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sandra Carter, Watkinsville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Amy Jean Carter, Ragland, Ala., Charlie and Rosemary Carter, Pell City, Ala.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Royce Pierce, Cleveland, Carolyn and Johnny Pritchett, Bishop; sister-in-law, Ruby Neil Carter; stepsisters, Margaret and Harry McDonald, Stockbridge, Evely and Mahlon Holland, Bishop; and special friends, Ed and Renee Meadows.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 15, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Arlene Smith officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
