LULA – Toy Clint Clarke Jr., 68, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born on June 20, 1940, in Cordele, he was the son of the late Toy Clint and Evelyn Brogdon Clarke. He graduated from Crisp County High School in Cordele and the University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for many years in Blakely before moving to Selma, Ala., where he was the chief pharmacist at a local hospital. In 1998 he moved to Gainesville, where he worked as a pharmacist at Winn-Dixie and CVS. Last year he moved to Lula and retired. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lula.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Clarke, Lula; sons and daughter-in-law, Mitch Clarke and Marvin and Sharon Clarke, all of Gainesville; stepson, Justin Hood, Lula; sister, Jeannine Chapman, Oakfield; uncle, James L. “Mott” Brogdon, Washington, D.C.; cousin, Kay Billips, Glenville, W. Va.; grandchildren, Tyler Ward and Hunter Clarke, both of Gainesville.
Memorial services are planned for Sunday, June 14, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Lula. Visitation will be held Friday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
